Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Gather, shoot, edit, and present insightful, accurate, and engaging news stories for broadcast and digital

• Generate local and regional on-air content for our TV shows and for digital platforms

• Shoot video, take photos, and report news as it happens, including live on-air

• Identify multimedia storytelling opportunities while covering events that will enhance the station’s coverage and content across all platforms

• Operate ENG equipment and accessories for news gathering

• Develop story ideas for inclusion in news shows

• Develop and maintain contacts  

• Other duties as required 

• Must be available to work weekends as well as select overnight and weekday shifts

Qualifications and Skills: 

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment 

• Five years experience with  live television news reporting and writing preferred* 

• At least six months of experience as a video journalist

• Proficiency with video editing software is a must

• Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is an asset

• A working knowledge of ENPS would be an asset

• A degree or diploma in journalism or a relevant field is required.  

• Strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills

• Possess a demonstrable history of working in various social media platforms  

• Superior organizational, spelling, and grammar skills  

• Ability to work in a live broadcast environment

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Responsibilities:

• Live Broadcast Support: Provide technical support during live news programming and studio productions, ensuring all audio, video, and transmission equipment operates seamlessly.

Qualifications:

• Education: A Degree or Diploma in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.

• Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of technical experience in a live television broadcast or production environment.

• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of HD/SDI video systems and audio routing.

• Familiarity with modern broadcast IT networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, switches) and emerging IP broadcast standards (NDI/Dante).

• Knowledge of satellite downlink systems is an asset.

• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to remain calm and focused in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.

• Flexibility: Television is a 24/7 business. Must be willing and available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the news cycle.

• Mobility: A valid Ontario Driver’s License in good standing is required.

Position Overview

As the IT Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day IT support services, infrastructure maintenance, and system operations across all of Channel Zero’s business units. You will coordinate technical activities between corporate IT needs and specialized broadcast systems, ensuring reliable technical support for our 200 employees. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical lead who can guide team members through daily operations, resolve escalated issues, and support infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Supervision & Daily Leadership

• Supervise, and  guide work assignments for the internal IT support team, assisting with technical escalations and vendor coordination.
• Assist management in executing the IT roadmap by ensuring daily maintenance tasks and project deliverables are met on schedule.
• Track software licenses and hardware inventory, recommending cost-effective replacements and upgrades to management.

Infrastructure & Operations

• Monitor and maintain network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, firewalls, switches) to ensure optimal uptime for corporate and broadcast users.
• Manage cloud environments (Google Workspace, GCP, Online Backups, etc) and on-premise servers(proxmox, linux and windows).
• Administration of storage arrays.
• Supervise IT Helpdesk operations, monitoring ticket resolution times and ensuring high-quality user support for all employees.

Security & Compliance

• Enforce cybersecurity policies and best practices across end-user devices and network endpoints.
• Perform regular data backup verification, routine disaster recovery testing, and assist in maintaining business continuity readiness.
• Ensure IT compliance with relevant industry regulations and data protection standards.

Broadcasting & Business Unit Support

• Partner with the Broadcast Engineering team to support the convergence of traditional broadcast technology and IT networks (IP-based broadcasting).
• Evaluate and deploy software and hardware solutions tailored to the unique needs of production, sales, marketing, and operations departments.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on IT support and systems administration experience, with prior experience acting as a team lead, senior technician, or supervisor.
• Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the broadcasting, media, or entertainment industry is highly preferred.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching) and firewall administration.
  • Proficiency in administering Google Workspace and Active Directory
  • Experience with high-capacity storage solutions (SAN/NAS) and media workflows.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication and team support skills, with a focus on active troubleshooting, guiding junior technicians, and resolving user issues efficiently in a fast-paced media environment.
