If so, Channel Zero Inc has immediate openings for the position of Events Crew Member to represent our brands throughout the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara regions in 2026.

Successful candidates will be responsible for representing Channel Zero brands including CHCH TV, Parrot TV, Rewind, Silver Screen Classics, Brant Beacon and more, at community events and festivals, interacting with the general public to create positive and lasting impressions. 

Hours will be primarily weekends with the possibility of weekday and evening work as well. A valid G-class driver’s license is required. The position is based in Hamilton but will involve travel throughout the surrounding region including Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Niagara Falls.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Create positive, lasting impressions with the general public that reflect well on the CHCH TV and Channel Zero company of brands

• Act alongside a team of peers to have fun, contribute equally and support each other while on-site

• Carry out specific and measurable company objectives while on location such as sign-ups, giveaways, surveys, and special promotions

• Collect and load all necessary equipment as instructed and with care

• Set up and tear down all necessary equipment, both light and heavy lifting required

• Drive with care and maintain company vehicles (frequently inspect, replenish gas, keep clean)

• Measure success and provide feedback and suggestions

• Actively keep up-to-date with CHCH TV and the Channel Zero company of brands

• Work a minimum of two shifts per month, primarily weekends, with the possibility of weekdays and evenings

Qualifications and Skills: 

• Self-motivated, accountable, innovative, punctual and reliable

• Able to strike up a conversation and relate to people of all ages

• Able to problem solve and deal with adversity

• Demonstrate initiative and leadership, able to work unsupervised and as part of a team

• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure 

• Unafraid of physical work on-foot (standing, lifting, long periods of activity)

• Valid G-class driver’s license, with a clean driving record

• Familiar with Hamilton and the surrounding region

• Weekend and weeknight availability

• Knowledge and passion for TV and movies, and a willingness to embrace new ideas

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the news director, executive producer, assignment editor, digital lead and other news team members to develop and determine what content will be featured in the newscasts and across all platforms.

• Various producing responsibilities will form a regular part of the work, including lining-up newscasts, vetting news content and co-ordinating event coverage.

• Write scripts, headlines, intros and all show elements in conjunction with anchors and others, while efficiently and effectively communicating across the newsroom.

• Supervise editorial line-up, provide creative direction and assignments to graphics operators and vet graphics, videos, and reporter scripts.

• Take the show to air in the control room working with the control room staff, working closely with the director/switcher on the visual presentation.

• Follow breaking/developing news. Initiate ideas for stories and coverage, including for the integration of content on-air, online, and through social media.

• Other related duties (such as specials and other event programming) as assigned.  

Qualifications

• Several years of experience as a news producer in a live environment.

• Familiarity with the news and newsmakers of Hamilton, Halton and Niagara

• In depth knowledge of, and endless curiosity in, all news and current affairs.

• Experience with federal and provincial election coverage is an asset. 

• Proven editorial news judgment with high journalistic standards.

• Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines of several simultaneous duties, while maintaining focus and composure.

• Ability to lead a team and motivate staff.

• Superior communication skills.

• Creative and progressive writing skills.

• A readiness to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

We have an immediate opportunity for a Full-Time Morning Live Co-Anchor*

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Present insightful, accurate and engaging local news and sports stories for broadcast and digital
• Report on local news, features and entertainment and can write on a deadline
• Work closely with the other co-anchor and show producer to develop daily news and help lead the newsroom for a popular now in its 26th year of production
• Commit to regular social media posts about the stories on Morning Live
• Support the coordination and booking of guests
• Develop and maintain contacts
• Work with producers and writers to chase developing stories before, during and after the show
• Write promos/news flashes for broadcast/smart home devices and social media
• File a full package story when required

Qualifications and Skills:

• 5  years’ experience as an on-air news anchor/ host in a medium/large television market
• Provide a demo reel showing major-market excellence
• Have an engaging, energetic on-air style suited to morning news audiences
• Be able to engage on air with your co-host and other on-air talent in impromptu discussions
• Have proven ability to lead live breaking news coverage
• Have superior broadcast writing, interpersonal and communication skills
• Have superior organizational skills
• A broadcast journalism diploma/degree or equivalent
• Have deep knowledge of Canadian/International politics, sports, business, national and local news
• A teamwork-focused attitude
• Demonstrably strong spelling and grammar skills  
• A keen interest in the local newsmakers and sports leaders in the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara regions
• A working knowledge of ENPS would be an asset
• A working knowledge of VizRT would be an asset
• A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
• Have a valid passport or nexus card or the ability to obtain
• Be able to work scheduled 3:30am-11:30am shifts, Monday through Friday and readiness to work various shifts as required
